Reviews

My second time here in the span of about that many years. I enjoyed it the first time I went and enjoyed it even more the second time.

The ambiance is nothing to write home about. Corny food-themed wall art and Telemundo on the TV doesn't bother me as long as I have someone to talk to, otherwise I'd skip eating in.

I had the BBQ chicken wrap. It was gigantic and filled me up for the rest of the day and well into the night. I'm sure it wasn't exactly health food, but once in a while it's good to splurge.

I appreciate the variety of teas available. Making an Arnold Palmer was never more inviting. Paying as much as I did for lunch? Not very inviting. I can spend half as much and eat far healthier.

Just okay and way over priced. I went here because of the groupon deal. I got a wrap and a bag of veggie chips and it cost over $9. the wrap was a nice size but the chicken was dry.

Overall it just wasn't good enough to make me want to go back and pay also $10 and not even get a drink.
Despite being a place offering vegetarian options and lunch that doesn't sit heavy with you through the afternoon, I can only go "meh" about this place. I only go here when 1) I've forgotten my lunch and 2) I'm sick of every other lunch place.

First off, this place is just confusing. Where do you start? What toppings? It could use a bit better organization. I swear next time I'm picking out my ingredients ahead of time so I can just list them off. Also, how they go about tallying up any up-charges is beyond me. I think to an extent they just charge you some lump sum.

Second, the staff could stand to be a bit friendlier. I know that working a part-time job on the North Shore sucks because of the snooty customers. Trust me, I did it myself as a high-schooler. Still, spare me the stand-off-ish attitude.

Third, this place isn't a sit/relax/enjoy a conversation lunch spot. I always take my food to go.

If you've totally got your mind set on semi-overpriced wraps around Glenview, go for it. Otherwise if you want a friendlier lunch spot in the Glen, I say stick with Via Gelato.
'm not infatuated by this place anymore, but it's still worth a spot in the second-tier lunch rotation. I just don't get over to The Glen that often, and the place isn't as wonderful as I once thought. Sometimes I still crave a big salad though. A few notes that I've observed over the last year or so:

PROS
1. The punch card--ten salads or wraps gets you a free one
2. Mondays you get six choppings for the price of four
3. Outdoor seating (if you like that sort of thing)

CONS
1. The staff is inscrutable at best, sometimes aloof
2. The inside isn't terribly welcoming for someone who prefers to sit down to read at lunch like I do. It's sort of cavernous and echoey, and doesn't have much charm.
3. Sometimes the tables aren't clean; this is SO basic--get with the program, Chop It Up
4. I still think that the prices are $0.50-$1.00 more than they should be
Light and fresh. That's what a couple coworkers and I wanted for lunch. Chop't came to mind.

We had never been here before. The menu of salads, wraps, and sammiches was extensive, and if you didn't see anything that called to you, you could create your own masterpiece.

I tried the strawberry spinach salad wrap, which was refreshing, but I wasn't crazy about the syrupy strawberries in it. Fresh strawberries would have been da bomb... especially since it cost a hefty $9.

Overall, didn't love it or hate it.
I went here and discovered that this is *NOT* "Chop't." It has nothing to do with the NYC-DC salad restaurants (besides being a weak & blatant knock-off).

Otherwise, it's a typical salad concept. To complain about the price is ridiculous. This is the price you'd pay for a salad at any restaurant, unless or order the side salad. Plus, it's customized to suit your tastes. What is the big deal?

HOWEVER ... I, too, ordered the strawberry spinach salad & expected actual fresh strawberries. Instead, I received the kind of strawberries you'd find on a McDonald's sundae: old & syrup-covered.

The execution is second-rate. Disinterested employees, less than fresh ingredients, & hey - was that a piece of bacon in my salad? Not cool for a vegetarian. How is that sanitary?

One caveat worth mentioning: dressing on the side (but be sure to insist long before the process or they'll pull a Chipotle & just start adding it out of repetition). That way, when you take the salad home, the greens won't wilt ... unless, of course, you have sugary-sweet strawberry syrup on them.
Get in my belly!

After hearing coworkers jump on the Chop't Up bandwagon, I thought I'd give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised that after a relatively short wait, I had an amazing salad placed before me. For my first visit, I went with one of their signature salads, the BBQ Chicken Tortilla, which included iceberg lettuce, black beans, sweet corn, tomatoes, scallions, monterey jack cheese, crispy tortilla strips and BBQ chicken. The salad itself was double that of any other local joint and all the ingredients were very fresh and flavorful... which for me, justified the $9 price tag.

Why only three stars, you ask? Well, I think their ordering process and customer service lacks finesse. When I walked in, I didn't really understand where I was supposed to go or how I was to order my salad. It was very confusing which was made even worse by the fact that nobody on staff made any attempt to guide me. I should never have to ask to order a meal. What ever happened to "can I talk your order?" When I approached the register to check out, the gentleman ringing through my order, who also appeared to be a manager, seemed very disinterested and never even asked if I wanted a drink. I didn't so that was fine but I found it a bit odd that he rang me up before ever speaking a word to me.
If you ever find yourself wondering the Glenview area, and you have a taste for fresh, healthy food, you should stop by this place. They have so many tasty salads and wraps to choose from, it is hard to decide what to order. I would consider it fast food, but think moderate-fast like Noodles and Company not, mind-blowing fast like Taco Bell. It is about $10 for a salad and a drink, but you will have a full and happy belly when you leave.
This place is a bit of a joke. I've always thought a decent make-your-own salad joint would be a slam dunk especially in a place like Glenview. It's hard to screw up, but this place has managed to do it.

The salad was over-chopped. Go figure. By the time this fella was done chopping I needed a spoon to eat the salad. It also had a really unpleasant slimy texture to it. I'd suggest they start with bigger chunks of veggies rather than the pre-chopped kind so that the salad ends up with a little texture.

My biggest complaint was the employees. This squad of college-aged boys was pretty remarkable. If the slimy salad wasn't unappetizing enough, watching the gentleman who made it rub his crotch repeatedly while standing around behind the counter definitely put made me lose my appetite. These morons were so preoccupied with watching football, talking on their cell phones, and punching eachother in the balls that they blatantly ignored customers when they came in. It was like an SNL sketch.
Such a cool place! Basically like a Subway-slash-Sweet-Tomatoes, with a Coldstone-like execution. A little bit hard to understand what's going on, and how to order, but after about 5 minutes, I was able to place my order. You can either order your own creation, or choose from a menu; once you choose, they stuff everything into a bowl, mix, then chop on a large, counter-shaped cutting board, drizzle dressing, and serve. Very popular, so had to wait a lot in line, but I think it's worth it. HUGE servings - seriously, one salad is worth two meals. The endless veggie and dressing and topping options was a bit crazy, but I want to try all of them. Their creamy cilantro dressing is yummy. Their antipasto has a bit too much salami. Their mac and cheese is $4 and NOT WORTH IT. All they did was heat up some cheese and throw it with Kraft noodles, and stick a fork in it. Eh. The service was very good, especially the fact that there was a huge line, and only 4 people working behind the scenes. For sure will come again, if only to try as much of the options as possible.
